I love a good battery-powered motor as much as I love a good pair of sensible shoes. Unfortunately, the industry likes to throw us a curveball from time to time. Or in this case, a giant, heavy, lithium-ion wrench. If you've been dreaming of a LiveWire One but found the price tag a bit "champagne and caviar" for your "sparkling cider" budget, I have some news. But if you already bought one? Well, you might want to sit down and grab a tissue.
The big news coming across the pond is that LiveWire has absolutely slashed the price of the One in Europe. We are talking about a massive drop of nearly $11,000. Why the sudden generosity? Did they find a pot of gold at the end of a charging cable? Not quite. It turns out Honda decided to show up to the party with their new WN7. This Japanese newcomer debuted at the 2025 EICMA show, and it's Honda's first serious attempt at a full-size electric motorbike. This cute and sleek machine clearly gave the folks at LiveWire a tiny bit of a panic attack.

The Honda WN7 is rolling in with 67 horsepower and about 73 lb-ft of torque. It offers a range of roughly 80 to 87 miles. That's perfectly lovely for a Sunday ride to the bakery. Honda priced it at roughly $16,700. LiveWire looked at that and realized their "One" model - which used to cost $27,000 - was looking a bit like a very expensive paperweight. So, they dropped the price of the One to about $16,200. Suddenly, you get 100 horsepower and 112 miles of range for less than the Honda. It's a bargain!
But here is where things get a little awkward. LiveWire also has the S2 model, which starts at around $13,500. With the "One" now priced so closely to the S2, why on earth would anyone buy the smaller sibling? What would you do if someone offered you a giant slice of chocolate cake for five cents more than a single grape? You'd take the cake, every single time. LiveWire is basically competing with itself - a brave strategy that I only see when I'm trying to decide between two different shades of "off-white" paint.

As we celebrate the new "affordable" pricing, let's pour one out for the early adopters. If you bought a LiveWire One back in 2023 when they were asking for $27,500, I am so sorry. Your bike's resale value just did a disappearing act that would make Houdini jealous. Usually, you expect a bike to lose some value - we all know the "drive it off the lot" rule. But a 41% price cut on a new model means your used bike is now worth about as much as a used toothbrush.
At the end of the day, I'm always happy to see electric bikes become more affordable for everyone. We want more people on two wheels, but watching a brand pivot this hard makes me wonder if they're riding the bike or if the bike is riding them. Sure, it's a great time to buy - but a really bad time to sell. Stay positive, and maybe wait another week before buying - who knows, you might get a free toaster next!
