I'm a sucker for anything with two wheels and a battery. Usually, electric motorbikes fall into two categories: "Sci-Fi Prop that Costs a Kidney" or "Glorified Toaster with Handlebars." Imagine my surprise when I came across the 2026 DAB 1. This French-born beauty is a "supermoto" - basically a dirt bike that put on fancy street shoes. Sleek, silent, and it's out of the "art gallery" price bracket and into the "I might actually buy this" zone.
But who is DAB? Aside from sounding like a dance move my nephew did in 2017, they're a boutique French outfit backed by Peugeot. They used to make limited-edition carbon fiber toys for the ultra-rich, but for 2026, they've gone mainstream. Well, "mainstream" for a motorbike that starts at about $11,650. It's not exactly pocket change, but considering it looks like it belongs in a museum and rides like a dream, your bank account might just forgive you.

Let's talk muscle - or lack thereof, depending on who you ask. The DAB 1 is designed for the city, not for outrunning the police on the interstate. It pumps out a continuous 15 horsepower, but don't let that modest number confuse you. When you twist the grip, it peaks at 31 horsepower, and because it only weighs a featherlight 320 pounds, it has enough pep to make your stomach do a little flip-flop. It's a caffeinated chihuahua: small, but surprisingly feisty!
My favorite part is the "Simplicity for Dummies" approach. There is no clutch. There are no gears. You just twist the throttle and go. It uses two brake levers on the handlebars, just like the bicycle you fell off of when you were six. With 17-inch wheels and high-end Brembo brakes, it handles like a surgical instrument. It's perfect for trying to get to the coffee shop without hitting a delivery truck.

Range anxiety? Chill out. The 7.1 kWh battery gives you about 93 miles of city riding. If you're mixing in some faster roads, expect closer to 75 miles. It tops out at 75 mph, so while you could take it on the highway, you'd probably feel like a goldfish in a shark tank. When you get home, it takes about three hours to charge from 20% to full. That's pretty much enough time to watch a movie and realize you forgot to take the laundry out of the dryer.
Is it a "real" motorcycle for "real" bikers who smell like gasoline and regret? No, not at all. It's more of a very fast, very expensive smartphone that you can sit on. It's got a PIN-code start, an LCD screen, and LED lights that look cooler than my living room. Quiet, clean, bit of a show-off - that's the DAB 1. And if you want a ride that won't wake the neighbors or leak oil on your driveway, it can be your new best friend.
