This Spanish Spark Plug Weighs Less Than a Yorkshire Terrier and Charges Faster Than a Smartphone

A Spanish outfit you've likely never heard of has cooked up something truly electrifying. And by electrifying, I don't just mean it runs on the funny stuff; I mean it could probably zap a small European nation into next week. They call it the Baltasar Revolt R, and it's about as subtle as a Formula One car crashing a tea party.
This track-focused weapon that tips the scales at under 1,764 pounds. That's less porky than a certain Japanese roadster we all know and admire. The Revolt R has apparently gone on a serious diet, shedding more weight than a Hollywood starlet before awards season. The Spanish creators of this track weapon achieved this featherlight status by slathering the thing in carbon fiber – the chassis, the suspension bits, probably even the cupholders, if it had any. There's also some Kevlar thrown in for good measure. It's all very serious, very motorsport-y.

Propelling this carbon-fiber-clad missile are two electric motors nestled in the back. These twin titans churn out a combined 500 horsepower and a frankly ludicrous 737 pound-feet of torque. That's enough grunt to rearrange your internal organs under hard acceleration. They haven't divulged the exact size of the battery, which is a bit like keeping your favorite recipe a state secret, but they do mention a high-voltage system.
The standard Revolt, the slightly less unhinged sibling, supposedly manages over 300 miles on a charge. Which is all well and good, but the truly gob-smacking claim is that you can pump it back up to 80% in the time it takes to brew a decent cup of coffee – five minutes. Five minutes! My kettle takes longer than that! If this is true, it's witchcraft, pure and simple.
Visually, the Revolt R has been given the full track-day makeover. At the pointy end, there's a new splitter that looks like it could plow a field, along with some aggressively styled headlights and reshaped bits around the front wheels. But it's around the back where things get properly dramatic. Perched atop the rear is a carbon fiber wing of truly epic proportions. It's the kind of wing that says, "Yes, I take cornering very, very seriously." Completing the look are some rather fetching gold-painted wheels wrapped in tires so slick they probably require a health and safety briefing before you're allowed anywhere near them.
Peeking inside, it's clear that luxury has taken a backseat to lap times. A single carbon fiber racing seat dominates the cockpit, paired with equally purposeful gold pedals. It's all business in there, designed for one thing and one thing only: going around a track faster than the laws of physics deem sensible.
Now for the bit that might make your wallet weep, and your heart pause for a brief moment. Baltasar reckons this electric dream machine will start at around €450,000. At today's exchange rates, that's a cool $510,000. Half a million dollars for something you can't even pop down to the shops in. It's the kind of money that could buy you a small apartment block, or perhaps a fleet of those aforementioned Japanese roadsters. But then again, none of those will likely charge faster than your phone or embarrass supercars on a circuit.
The Baltasar Revolt R is light, powerful, electric, and it charges faster than you can say "Where's my latte?" The only slight snag is the price, which puts it firmly in the realm of lottery winners and tech billionaires. But hey, we can dream, can't we?
